MSM STUDENT PRIVACY POLICY

At Moriah School of Ministry we value the relationship we have with our students and we are committed to the highest standards of ethics and integrity and are bound by conscience as much as duty to protect the personal information that you entrust to us.

National Privacy Principles
We are committed to the protection of your privacy by acting in accordance with the requirements of the Australian Federal Government's National Privacy Principles which are set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the "Privacy Act") The National Privacy Principles control the way in which we may collect, store, use and disclose your personal information including any sensitive information entrusted to us. Your personal information is any information, or opinion about you where your identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained. It will therefore include virtually any information which is in some way linked to your name, address, or other identifying features.

  • Take reasonable steps to ensure the personal information you collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date. This may require you to correct the information.
  • Take reasonable steps to protect the personal information you hold from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
  • Take reasonable steps to destroy or permanently de-identify personal information if you no longer need it for any purpose for which you may use or disclose the information.
  • Have a short document that sets out clearly expressed policies on the way you manage personal information and make it available to anyone who asks for it.
  • If an individual asks, take reasonable steps to let them know, generally, what sort of personal information you hold, what purposes you hold it for and how you collect, use and disclose that information.
  • If an individual asks, you must give access to the personal information you hold about them unless particular circumstances apply that allow you to limit the extent to which you give access - these include emergency situations, specified business imperatives and law enforcement or other public interests.

MSM Privacy Principles

We appreciate that any information stored on computers is, at one time or another, at some level of risk. Therefore we apply the following measures to ensure maximum privacy to our students.

    1. All internet-connected computers shall have up-to-date fire-wall and anti-virus protection deployed at all times.
    2. Student application details (apart from name and contact details) must not be stored on an internet-connected computer.
    3. Where such details are stored on a computer not connected to the internet the hard drive must be password-protected and such passwords must be known only to the Registrar and the Principal of the School.
    4. Where such details are converted to printed form, the documents must be filed in a locked cabinet accessible only to the Registrar and the Principal of the School.
    5. No student details may be shared with a third party without prior written authorisation of the student.
