STRUCTURED (time-limited) COURSES
Eighteen years' experience in
distance education, both as an adult learner and as a teacher, has shown that 'self-paced' study
is not suitable for the majority of students. Few have the self-discipline and determination to
push themselves to complete that which they have started - no matter how much enthusiasm they
displayed at the outset! Left to themselves, distance learners find that it is all to easy to
drift off or 'slip through the cracks', never to be heard of again. This is especially true of
those courses that require little or no financial outlay. Consequently, here at MSM we are
dedicated to helping our students stay on track by introducing time-limited programmes of study.
This applies not only to online courses but also those taken by correspondence (airmail). The main difference is that a greater period of time is allowed for the latter because of the vagaries of postal services (especially those in the Third World).
ONLINE STUDY
1. Foundations Course (Max 12 weeks)
The time limit for the completing the sample lesson in this level of study is 7 days. Providing that the applicant achieves a satifactory
score within the allotted time they will be eligible to progress to the remaining 11 subjects and they have 11 weeks to complete them.
If, for instance, you download your sample lesson on January 4 and you submit your test answers by January 11, you have the following test answers due:

- Lesson104 = Feb01
- Lesson105 = Feb08
- Lesson106 = Feb15
- Lesson107 = Feb22
- Lesson108 = Mar01
- Lesson109 = Mar08
- Lesson110 = Mar15
- Lesson111 = Mar22
- Lesson112 = Mar29
2. Certificate Course (Max 10 months).
If you downloaded the sample lesson in the Certificate Course on Jan 4 you have until Feb 4 to submit your test answers and written assignment. Assuming that you achieved a satisfactory score you then need to make submissions according to the following schedule:
- Lesson202 = Mar04
- Lesson203 = Apr04
- Lesson204 = May04
- Lesson205 = Jun04
- Lesson206 = Jul04
- Lesson207 = Aug04
- Lesson208 = Sep04
- Lesson209 = Oct04
- Lesson210 = Nov04
CORRESPONDENCE COURSES
For those students who elect to receive their study materials by mail rather than online, an individual programme will be worked out according to their country of residence to allow for a suitable time-frame for the successful completion of their chosen course.
PLEASE NOTE:There is no restriction on how quickly a student progresses through each subject, in fact, early submission can earn extra percentage points (whereas late submissions will result in subtraction!).
